  • What You’ll Do

Start in a neighbourhood market with a guide who introduces seasonal ingredients and the everyday food culture surrounding Muertos. Continue to the kitchen for a hands-on class preparing Oaxacan dishes such as mole negro, tamales and other regional staples, while learning how the recipes connect to memory and family gathering. Finish by sharing the meal you prepared, with lunch on the morning departure or dinner on the afternoon departure.

  • Why We Recommend It

We recommend this as one of the most accessible ways to understand Day of the Dead through daily life rather than spectacle. The market-to-kitchen format gives the class a strong sense of place, and the hands-on cooking makes the cultural context easier to remember. Vegetarian and vegan options can be accommodated.

  • Booking Details

Listed departure 30 October, with two start times: 9:00 AM with lunch and 2:00 PM with dinner. Vegetarian and vegan options can be accommodated.
