What You’ll Do
Travel from Oaxaca City to Cultivos El Viejo to see rows of cempasúchil in full bloom and learn about the flower’s symbolism, farming cycle and role in guiding loved ones home. A professional photographer captures portraits and candid images in the fields. Continue to the Festival del Corte de la Flor de Gallo for a livelier community atmosphere with food, music and a second flower tradition, with a local meal and non-alcoholic drink included.
Why We Recommend It
We recommend this because it shows the marigold before it becomes decoration: in the fields, at harvest and inside a local seasonal celebration. The combination of rural context, two distinct locations and professional photography makes it especially strong for visually minded travellers who also want to understand where the symbols of Muertos come from.
Booking Details
Fixed annual departure, listed for 28 October. Face painting is not included. Professional images are usually delivered around 3–4 weeks after the event.
